Focus On Your Goals and Personal Objectives
Today's busy world is a distraction to every one of us. It is not like hundreds of years ago when each person had a few tasks each day, probably tending land, and had little to distract them from that. So, they got their tasks done; with few distractions, and the natural default was to be focused. However, today, focus is not the default for most people, it is something they have to try very hard to achieve. That focus needs to be reached before you can even contemplate setting out successfully to meet your goals and objectives.
But why do you you need to set personal goals? As in most aspects of life, planning ahead makes it much easier to get where you want to be. It is like using a map to reach a destination; you do that before setting out, not when you are already lost. At least, that is what an experienced traveler would do. You have the end destination in mind, and without that you would be wondering aimlessly. Think of that destination as your ultimate objective.
If you are setting out on a long journey with a number of changes of transport, to somewhere you have not been to before, then you will plan to have intermediate destinations. Think of these as your interim goals. When you set out for your first stop off point, you know you cannot reach either the ultimate destination or the later interim destinations without getting to the first interim destination. You have plotted your route; to begin with you need to focus on reach point 1.
The same is true of your personal goals and objectives. If you have an ambition that is at all demanding, then there will be a number of stages to get through to achieve success. Your inititial focus should be in visualizing the ultimate goal, but also getting down to planning how to get their. When your plan is ready, you should then focus on each stage, one at a time, and make sure you reach that interim goal, knowing that once their you are another step nearer your final goal.
You will find that focus is one of the main essentials of achievement. Without being able to focus, progress will be delayed or curtailed completely. There is no point sitting on the platform waiting for the train on the first leg of your journey, and then being distracted by watching all the pretty girls or handsome guys go past. Or by the temptation of a beer or two or three while waiting for train. One too many distractions and you will miss the train altogether.
The secret is to have a clear plan and focus on it one stage at a time, knowing that you can change it if experience dictates that you should. A clear plan is an essential; you cannot focus on an unclear plan. So, whether your personal goals are related to career development, your own business, a sporting achievement or artistic success, a clear plan and focused attention will be two of your most powerful tools.
